SMILE, SAY CHEESE!

Here’s my Dad at my age,
in much happier times …

Maybe it was the economy
and a delicious piece of
German Chocolate cake?

But I’m not the Cake Boss,
No, I’m Colby Jack Ass—

I’ve reached my expiration date.

And I, to be that naive,
to bite into a bad piece
of moldy cheese.

Do me a favor, I suggested,
hire one food inspector
to decide each item’s fate
.

Here’s my Dad … at my age,
with Mom … out of the picture
for all the right reasons, together,
strong as the sunrise, more heat
then my short-wicked candles
flamed-out 16 years earlier.

A prearranged activity,
whose planner does not shed
a single tear, but snaps the picture:

Year After Year After Year
After Year After Year After
Year After Year After Year
After Year After Year After
Year After Year After Year
After Year After Year After
Year After Year After Year

until boredom kills the effort,
until I say cheese no more.

That poem makes me sad. It's like bitterness but somewhere in there, there is some joy.

C... I'm writing from the heart; which, by the way, has been ripped out of my chest and stomped on. The last eighteen years were for naught. How is that for bitterness? Then there's the opportunity to see my child grow up. So, yeah ... you're right ... I found joy as well.

Personally I think something is backwards here, the cheese and the cake are in the wrong juxtaposition.

The hurt is pretty palable here.

Free consultation ADAM

The Free consultation is to geek a person up, to put the fight back into them, so the lawyer can charge 200 bucks an hour over every item in their client's house. No thank you.

Hey JR . Can feel the pain in your writing.
I am here if you need me. MW

Aunt Polly asked me to keep track of you. I told her I'd try but your game has been elevated and I can't keep pace. Peace.

Wow. A bit of life's tortures here.

You got that right Rick. If White Cat Publications decides to publish my story, add one more line to my bio: He's going through a divorce.

Durn mid-life crisis.

As for me, I worry that it might be permanent crisis. :)
